Q: How much will the Double Dome cost, and how will we pay for it?

A: 100 dollars per square foot. Our goal would be to have 4 square feet per Ferndale resident and the current population is 10,000. A revenue bond will need to be voted on and passed by 60% in the Nov. 7th general election. 450,000 dollars in donated labor pledges have raised as of June 1st 2006. Our goal is to reach a half million by July 4th 2006.

Q: Where will the Double Dome be built?

A: The first choice is the Simplot property that has been vacant for 10 years and is located just East of the High school and centrally located as our city grows.

Q: Why use a monolithic dome design rather than a more conventional design?

A: Low construction costs, durability, energy saving design, low maintenance cost, fire, earthquake and disaster proof.

Q: What can I do to help make the Double Dome a reality?

A:
1. Sign the guestbook on this website.
2. Contact your city councilors and ask them to move fast to support this project. Spread the idea with friends.
3. Vote “Yes” on the bond issue Nov.7th 2006.
4. Join one of the many committees that will be forming.
5. What would like to do? Everyone has good ideas or energy to contribute, and we would welcome your help.

Q: When will the Double Dome be built?

A: Our goal would be to have it started Jan. 1st 2007 after Ferndale voter approval in November 2006.

Q: When will I have a chance to vote for the Double Dome?

A: We are shooting for Nov.7th 2006.

Q: How will the Double Dome enhance the community of Ferndale?

A: Ferndale will benefit in a multitude of ways. The multi-purpose community center will provide much needed public meeting spaces for clubs, civic groups, private parties, musical events, and city government functions. It will increase youth employment opportunities with fun jobs and internships. It will promote positive relationships between our public safety personnel and youth, working to prevent juvenile delinquency, thereby increasing feelings of public safety. It will act as a social network center and help build community spirit while making sure critical services are available to the poor and disadvantaged. It will give a great new entrance into town that we will all be proud of when we come home. It will be designed to look very natural and environmentaly compatible on the outside, consistent with our lush green and agricultural heritage. The Aquatics center will be a great asset to the schools, churches, Boys and Girls Club and after school programs as well as senior citizens. Exercising reduces obesity and diabetes. The site is big enough that it could accommodate a local farmers market. As a community ,we want to move towards economic agricultural sustainability and good long term public health through nutrition.

Other great ideas are being presented and can be added as we go along. This project along with a good trail system could make Ferndale one of the best places to live on the planet.
